Outreach at Lund Observatory

The Universe belongs to all and the astronomers at Lund Observatory are always happy to share stories and insight with the public. Here are some examples:

  • Lund Observatory astronomers give talks at the annual NMT days. These talks are aimed at high school students and their teachers.
  • Our weekly seminars are open to all who wish to attend, but do require some basic understanding of astrophysics.
  • You can enjoy the starry skies at the Lund University Planetarium, which is open to the public on weekends and school holidays
  • On culture night we open the doors to the observatory with lectures, activities and stargazing (weather permitting).
  • We encourage university students join the astronomy club ALVA .
  • Our astronomers give courses/seminars to local teachers on a semi-regular basis.
  • During special astronomical events, such as the recent Mercury transit, we take out the telescopes and invite the public to come stargazing with us.
