Planetary dynamics

The work on planetary dynamics at Lund Observatory focuses on extrasolar planets. In particular we study the stability and survivability of planetary systems once they have formed, with an emphasis on understanding whether they could support extra-terrestrial life. There is a strong overlap with our studies of planetary formation.
We are also involved in planning and development of the upoming ESA planet-hunting satellites PLATO and CHEOPS. The work on stellar physics with emphasis on line shifts and 3D modelling also has an impact on the searches for exoplanets.
